T-1B4b-TE-1 - Shift to LNG fuel for marine freight transport
TBD
Background¶
IPCC WG3 definition: .
Switching to liquefied natural gas (LNG) can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent while also reducing the emissions of dust, soot, nitrogen oxides and sulfur.
Sustainability Category: Amber¶
This transition element has only moderate climate impact but may be necessary for maintaining urban needs, with a clear pathway to decarbonization. While not aligned with net-zero targets, this transition element is actively improving the emissions profile and represents intermediate performance on the path to sustainability.
